Congratulations to our 10/2's and 11/4's for winning their Grandfinal Games on Saturday! The 10/2's looked strong and determined throughout their game and won 18 - 8. The 11/4's started their game a little rocky but forged back with great spirit and competitiveness and won 14 - 12. A great result for both of our teams.
Special commendation to our 12/2's who made it to the Finals but unfortunately were defeated by only 1 goal.
Well done to all of our Carlingford Teams and many thanks to our hard working coaches, managers, committee members and supporters for a wonderful 2013 Netball Season.

special congratulations go to our under 11-1’s team who won their division in the Blacktown City Netball Carnival on Sunday. The girls had an early start, playing a total of 7 games over the course of the day. It was great to see everyone in fine form, with great team dynamics, excellent court play and positioning, outstanding defence and accurate shooting. In between our games there was lots of eating and lollie sharing and plenty of fun!! We managed to complete all games undefeated and took out first position. It was a fantastic day and lots of fun had by all including the parents. Special thanks go to Ashleigh McNee for playing with us on the day and Karissa Kuka for her wonderful umpiring. Round 9 Review
Another brilliant weekend of weather, although a little chilly for our Under 8’s on Friday night and ofcourse the 8am game on Saturday. I don’t think the girls playing this time slot actually defrosted their fingers until the final quarter, which made catching and throwing balls a tad difficult.
The games played last weekend marked the start of the 2nd round of competitions. Looking at all the results, there were some very close games, with 9 of our teams winning this week. This included a first win for our 10-4’s team – Congratulations girls!!! I spotted a few of you enjoying a victory icecream – hopefully there will be more to come! Our Cadet 2 and 10-2 teams continue to be undefeated with some convincing results again on Saturday. At this point in the competition ladder we have 7 of our 14 Saturday teams in 5th place or higher which is an excellent result for our club – Go Carlo Go!!!!!
We have had a couple of Carlingford teams borrowing players from other junior/lower grade teams, which is wonderful to see such team spirit and support offered within the club. I thought it is important to remind everyone that each player can only play in a higher division or age group 2 times. If it is 3 or more, then that individual is then deemed part of this higher graded team. So please be careful and monitor your additional games and inform your coach and manager so they know as well. Also, each team can only borrow 2 players that are not registered with their team for any given game.
As you would know school holidays start at the end of this week (some earlier) so there is no netball for the next 2 weeks and we recommence on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of July. Enjoy your Saturday morning sleep in – I know I will be!
As usual see you all on the courts!
The Carlingford Rough Diamonds Shine….
The 10-2’s (The Carlingford Rough Diamonds) participated in a Netball Gala Day on Sunday at South Turrumurra – and what a great day was had by all. Amazingly we awoke to a perfect day with blue skies and not a cloud or drop of rain to be seen. Thus tarps, umbrellas and gumboots were left in the car and instead we were all reaching for hats and sunscreen! The courts were a little slippery from the prior days rain and it didn’t take long before bandaids were being assembled knees. As the day progressed the courts dried up and we had perfect conditions for netball.
The girls played 5 games – winning 4 and drawing 1. They had lots of fun during and outside of games with the first lollies consumed prior to game 1 and some delicious homebaked cakes and slices for the sideline cheer squad. It was a very close call at the end of the day with the girls finishing in tied first but with goal scoring count back we were awarded Runners Up position. Congratulations girls on a fantastic effort and a fun day. Special thanks to Abby Fowler and Karissa Kuka who kindly volunteered to umpire for us during the day – and did a beautiful job. Thanks also go to Mel Michanos (Manager of the Year) for all her hard work and our wonderful parents who continue to provide enthusiastic support and encouragement for the girls. Lastly special thanks to Tatiana, Thalia, Justine, Casey, Rania, Ciara, Varsha, Zahli and Alex for being such gorgeous girls and such a delight to coach each week!!
